Tiers of Engagement
Department of Planning and Community Development is leading this process and coordinating with all of the comprehensive plan stakeholders.
Ways to Engage
Share your current priorities and future goals in community listening sessions with the Department of Planning and Community Development. These sessions will provide an overview of the process and a platform for your voice.
Engage with the City and fellow citizens in working sessions where you will review work developed by planning consultants and participate in workshops to create a cohesive vision, and supporting recommendations, actions, and projects for the Comprehensive Plan.
Stay tuned as we update the Comprehensive Plan website with information on the plan making process, findings from engagements, and interim work products from consultants. From time to time you will also have the opportunity to interact with engagement tools that will be made available on the website.

After months of community engagement as well as research and analysis, Metropolitan Urban Design Workshop, the consultant team, has prepared the Downtown Vision Report. This Downtown Vision is the first step toward a long-term blueprint with Mount Vernon’s Comprehensive Plan, the first in over 55 years. Through a participatory process, we have co-developed a shared vision and identified policies and actions to guide the city in decisions about land use, zoning, housing, green spaces, city services, and other important priorities for years to come. The public now has an opportunity to review the plan and provide their feedback at the upcoming City Council Public Hearings.
The Public Hearing will be held on:
December 6, 2023, 6:00pm
Location: City Hall, City Council Chambers Room, 2nd Floor
1 Roosevelt Square, Mount Vernon, NY 10550
